This step verifies the conditions for DTC P0706 still exist. Nec network & wireless cards driver. Download oce printers driver. If the shift cable or switch is misadjusted, a DTC P0706 may set while in certain gear shift positions. Oem driver download. DTC P0706 may set due to 1 or more circuits being shorted to ground.

- I drove my truck last night and everything was fine. Went to run a get a pack of cigarettes about an hour ago before I return to your tmmrw after missing the last 4 days (due to a dislocated hip, hematoma, and a deep bone contusion) and out of no where I get 2 codes.p0706 and p0707.
P0706 Transmission Range Sensor
2005 Passat TDI, 170,000 km. My transmission is now in limp mode. When I read the code it is P0706. I know it is transmission range sensor circuit - range/performance. I searched here and found a few ideas but most of the threads were inconclusive.
I pulled up the carpet on passenger side and found it wet but not flooded. Opened the TCM black box and it was not wet inside. Dried carpet and wires but still the same problem. Even was able to try another TCM from a parts car and still get the same thing. Display is in reverse mode after it clunks into limp, but when first start the car P R and N display okay but not D or any numbers except 2 . If I start out in D it won't shift up until I pull it back to 4 and then it shifts to limp mode.
I am thinking it is the switch on the side of the transmission but would like to know for sure befor changinh as it is a big job and the switch is quite expensive.
